Exploring the Future of Wireless Capsule Endoscopy: CapsNetwork at MICCAI 2025

On September 23, 2025, the CapsNetwork project co-hosted the MICCAI 2025 tutorial Challenges and Opportunities in Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) at the Daejeon Convention Center, South Korea. The half-day event brought together leading researchers, clinicians, and industry experts to explore the evolving landscape of WCE technology and its potential to transform gastrointestinal diagnostics.

Wireless Capsule Endoscopy has emerged as a non-invasive alternative for detecting conditions such as polyps, bleeding, and ulcers. However, the tutorial highlighted key limitations—such as low image resolution, restricted field of view, and the challenge of analyzing vast video data—that currently hinder its clinical readiness for automated diagnosis.
